Monday Inspiration – Heavenly Music

Beautiful music and a poem inspired by it, that I wrote a few weeks ago. I first wrote it in Afrikaans, and now translated it as well for this post. The Afrikaans version (“Smekend om Lig”) can be found on Kammastories today.

Pleading for Light
(Poem after Antiphona post Evangelium)
O, my God, how dost Thou know when to answer?
from the depths of darkness my soul pleads for Light
but receive no answer.
may I – flesh-enshrouded soul – ask it?
hope fades.
everything becomes as night around me –
friends, friendship and love
fades to a shadow.
and then, suddenly a song sounds.
From the darkness rustles voices with
the sound of the Angels.
They sing to Thy Glory.
They sing from the past.
in their own dark time they answer:
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
the voices brings Thy Light to me and
I – flesh-enshrouded soul – can see and sing
and reach out to a morsel of Thy blessing.

Written after listening to “Antiphona post Evangelium”, an Ambrosian chant by an anonymous writer. Sung by In Dulci Jubilo on the CD Discover Early Music by Naxos.

Monday Inspiration: A Knight, A Damsel in Distress and a Dragon

If you follow my blog (and welcome, if this is your first visit) you might have noticed that I like dragons, heroes and epic stories. So I was thrilled when I saw the music video for The Parlotones’ song “I’ll be there”. The song may be a few years old, but I still love it just as much – enjoy!

Monday Inspiration: Entertaining and Creative Music Video

Some foot-tapping music to start the week with – this is one of my favourite music videos:
“Elke man het ’n kop” by Chris Chameleon

It is a poem by acclaimed Afrikaans poet Ingrid Jonker, set to music. The lyrics is:
“Elke man het ’n kop, ’n lyf en twee bene, hulle probeer jou namaak”, which can be translated as “Every man has a head, a body and two legs, they try to imitate you”.

Enjoy!

Monday Inspiration – It’s My Life

I love this great song by Bon Jovi to start the day or the week with – definitely an energy boost!

And in other news, I received a nomination for a Liebster Blog Award! What this space for more information and my own nominees.
